Join us as a key member in the Controls and Monitoring (‘C&M’) function which focuses on a variety of Private Banking (‘PB’) front office control testing activities.
You will work in a dynamic and motivated team of business controllers with the overall purpose to strengthen the bank’s control framework. As one of the experienced members of the team, you are responsible to guide and groom the junior business analysts.
You will perform reviews on key controls of risk areas among PB business and ensure that control results are being timely reported and shared with all relevant business partners. Where gaps have been identified, you ensure that they are being reported and addressed on a timely basis and would provide recommendations to the Subject Matter-Experts on how they can be closed based on your root cause analysis.
Where areas of improvements within the team have been identified, you would provide suggestions such as streamlining or automating the existing monitoring for possible increased efficiency. Coordinating with Client Facing Employees, Front Office Management and other key partners (e.g. Compliance, Competency Centers etc.), you will act as a control and review subject matter expert on various key risk topics such as Pricing, Datal Loss Protection, KYC/AML and Investment Suitability.
The C&M team is a monitoring function and the primary control testing team within PB business, setup as part of the APAC First Line of Defense Support (“FLDS”). The APAC FLDS Head in turn reports to the PB APAC COO.
The C&M function is crucial in supporting the Bank’s Risks and Controls Framework, as well as to ensure compliance of all operational activities with the respective local and offshore regulations by providing support to the Front Office organization on all risk and control related matters.
- At least 10 years of experience in a risk/ control or related function (e.g. audit, risk management, operational risk) in the financial industry, preferably Private Banking
- Confident personality with experience in handling business and operational risk issues and control matters
- Ability to identify areas of improvements and gaps
- Team-player and a positive can-do attitude
- Effective communication and partner management skills, particularly in coordinating with Senior Front Office, as well as other key business partners
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision, and to excel under pressure for meeting any tight deadline
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks
- Knowledge and experience in key PB risk areas such as pricing, investment suitability, and financial crime and cross border
- Familiarity with Singapore and Hong Kong regulations is an advantage
