The Portfolio Strategist is responsible for providing strategic investment advice, portfolio construction expertise, and market insights to Private Bank clients and Senior Client Advisors (SCAs).
The role serves as a trusted investment partner, translating the bank’s investment views into tailored portfolio recommendations that align with clients’ financial objectives, risk profiles, and market conditions. You will work closely with Relationship Managers, Investment Advisors, Product Specialists, and the Chief Investment Office (CIO) team to deliver holistic wealth management solutions for high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients.
You will develop customized investment portfolios aligned to clients’ financial goals, investment horizons, liquidity needs, and risk tolerance. You will recommend strategic and tactical asset allocation across equities, fixed income, alternatives, structured products, and multi-asset solutions, and conduct portfolio reviews and identify opportunities to improve portfolio diversification, risk-adjusted returns, and overall positioning. You will monitor portfolio performance and provide timely rebalancing recommendations in response to changing market conditions.
You will interpret and communicate the CIO’s house views, macroeconomic outlook, and investment themes to clients and Senior Client Advisors (SCAs). You will analyze global market developments, economic trends, and geopolitical events to assess portfolio implications and formulate investment strategies and tactical opportunities across asset classes and sectors. You will produce investment commentaries and portfolio recommendations for client discussions.
You will participate in client meetings alongside Senior Client Advisors (SCAs) to present investment strategies and portfolio recommendations and build credibility and trusted advisor status with sophisticated HNW and UHNW clients. You will articulate complex investment concepts in a clear and compelling manner and support client acquisition and retention efforts through differentiated investment advice.
You will partner closely with Senior Client Advisors (SCAs) to identify investment opportunities and address client needs, as well as work with product specialists to evaluate investment solutions and ensure suitability for clients. You will collaborate with Investment Advisors, Treasury, and Capital Markets teams on bespoke client solutions and support internal training initiatives by sharing market insights and investment knowledge.
You will ensure all portfolio recommendations comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and suitability standards. You will assess portfolio risk exposures, concentration risks, and asset allocation deviations, and maintain high standards of documentation and investment rationale. You will adhere to all compliance, conduct, and fiduciary responsibilities.
Pre-requisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related discipline
- Master’s degree or MBA is advantageous
- One or more of the following is preferred: CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst), CFP (Certified Financial Planner), FRM (Financial Risk Manager
- At least 5 – 10 years of experience in private banking, institutional asset management, investment advisory, or portfolio management
- Strong understanding of global financial markets and investment products
- Experience working with HNW/UHNW clients is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to formulate and communicate investment strategies
