From our humble beginnings as a small startup operating from a tiny office located near Orchard Road in Singapore, WMRC has become today, a specialist executive search firm serving the Banking, Finance and Insurance sectors in two of Asia’s most dynamic financial centers - Singapore and Hong Kong.
The journey has been one paved with excitement, joy, and at times, self doubts. Even as we started with an original aim of helping a friend secure a job, our ambition to do this better and on a larger scale got us to think of better ways of engaging with our clients and our candidates.
The work we do is challenging. There are hundreds of recruitment agencies and search firms operating in Singapore and Hong Kong, with some very established multinationals and numerous small setups. Better still, these firms are extremely competitive and target almost the same pie of clients within each industry specialization.
How do we differentiate ourselves to create value for our clients and candidates? How do we ensure our quality of service is at least on par, if not higher than that of the established players? What could we bring to the table which the existing players are not delivering?
The answers lie in US. We make the difference and we create value in the work we do every day. We have no other means to be competitive but to be extremely resourceful in seeking out new ways of doing business and be ever sensitive to changes in the market environment. Our business model may not be new but as long as it is implemented and executed better than others, we believe we have a key role to play in the markets we serve.
And we played hard. From our initial focus on the private banking/ wealth management sector, we have developed synergies with other sectors covering fund management, corporate and consumer banking, and insurance. Although we have diversified our market coverage, our focus remained on our core competency which is in identifying professional talents with skill sets in banking, finance, accounting, private wealth and fund management, as well as insurance.
We are constantly aware of the War for Talent as the world population grows older and technology becomes more sophisticated. In the case of Asia where we operate, there continues to be a shortage of executive talent to fill critical roles in the sectors we cover.
Coupled with this trend are the career aspirations of every individual whom we come into contact with. Well-trained people with valuable work experience are demanding when it comes to managing their careers and they continuously seek jobs which offer better remuneration and more interesting job scopes for their personal and career development.
It is therefore our mission to find that equilibrium and secure win-win job offers for both our clients and candidates.
Going forward, we will continue to leverage on our Asian expertise and network to add value to our clients. Whether faced with tough market conditions or operating during boom periods, our clients and candidates can expect us to present innovative solutions to their human resource needs and career aspirations.
